Zooeysaurus Turns Two

Monday, 28 February 2011 23:34 CST

So this past Sunday we had a fabulous dinosaur party in honor of Zooey's 2nd birthday. (Two years, already! How did that happen?) We had cake and presents and yummy Wheat State Pizza, and Zooey was just absolutely thrilled with all the attention. Here are some choice shots from the occasion.

This is a dinosaur hoodie I sewed for our little Zooeysaurus.

Part of the birthday display. Notice the phalanx of tiny dinosaurs arranged along the ledge.

Zooey has totally figured out how this present thing works. Here she is opening a Sit 'N Spin that Grandma Janelle and Papa Joe got for her. (I know! SIt 'N Spins! Cue the collective nostalgia flashback!)

Here's the cake I made for the party. It took FOREVER to decorate (my pinky finger developed a spectacular blister), but it was worth it to see her face when she saw it. Also, it was yummy.

Taking some time to color with Grandma Janelle. Notice that very few of the crayons are in one piece?

Lastly, here's a picture I shot tonight, on Zooey's birthday proper.

Happy Birthday, Zooeysaurus! We love you.

I don't know if you know this, but you've got dinosaurs hanging off of your drapes...infestation maybe? I don't want to stir an uproar...I'm just sayin'. The orange one is taunting I think. 1.) I have to tell you, that cake is awesome..good work. And its definitely awesome when they get so excited about such things and makes all the crap that went into the production completely worth all the labor and tribulations. 2.) Absolutely LOVE the dinosaur hoody...I rarely use this word, ADORABLE. 3.) Sit-n-Spin: Complete and utter awesomeness with a sweet glaze of awesome on top. I didn't even know they made them any more. I figured they'd been recalled years ago with all the stuff they've been recalling of late. That's very cool. Colleen's chiropractor has one in his office. Christopher has a hard time figuring out how it works...even though I've tried to show him numerous times. However, with his noted goldfish-esque attention span, we've found that he'd rather stand on the handle (Is that what it would be called?)and attempt to jump off. Good for Zooey for getting it right! 4.) Good job, Nick, on the Thundercats throw-back T-shirt. It goes well with the sit-n-spin. It looked like the day was a lot of fun (at least more fun that birthday proper at Dillon's, no?). She's growing into a beautiful young lady.

Dude, you're so right about the dinosaur infestation! We'll have to get someone out to look at that right away. Zooey hasn't exactly figured out how to use the Sit 'N Spin in the proper way yet...she still kind of pushes off with her leg. She'll figure it out eventually, I'm sure. Oh, and she also likes to use it like a stool while she watches Thomas the Tank Engine. But hey, at least she's enjoying it, right? And thanks, Emily! Yes, I borrowed my mom's cake-decorating equipment to do the cake. Very labor-intensive, but totally worth it.
