Zooey, Princess Leia, and a Wayward River in the Back Yard
Zooey wearing her Thing 1/Thing 2 hat.

Hanging out in overalls.

This is an old Princess Leia doll I found at the bottom of a box of my childhood things. The red goo on her neck is actually residue from a balloon, which I apparently wrapped around the doll for extra decoration. It . . . um . . . melted onto the doll.

Zooey's first newspaper hat.

Here's Zooey at my Grandma's 90th birthday party. Zooey's on the right. On the left are my cousin Debra's kids, Landen and Kendra. My cousin Sharon is in the background.

Zooey playing with Landen.

Crashing out on the car ride home.

A few weeks ago it rained. And rained. And then it rained some more. Over the course of the storm we made a discovery in the back yard: a new river! If it returns we may have to give it a name. The Miskatonic River, perhaps?

Here's Miss Zooey's first trip to the baby pool. Lauren Bacall, eat your heart out.

Playing with the fountains in the pool.

And finally, here are a couple of shots of Zooey at the State Fair petting zoo. She was unimpressed.

"Love that "Thing 1/Thing 2" picure...I absolutely love her expression...it's almost like she's standing in disbelief at the nieghbors' shenanigans and crazy goings on. Beautiful... Picture 2: Almost looks like she's singing doo-wop. Princess Leia looks like she has a tumor...or a mind-controlling parasite attached to her neck and leading her to the dark side. And, all I can say is, you can't be a real playa unless you can rock the watermelon one-piece...and Zooey can rock the watermelon one-piece... She just keeps getting cuter and more adorable and growing, growing, growing like a weed (but a cute, lovely weed like a dandelion). P.S. - Love the newspaper hat by the way..."

I kind of thought the same thing about that stuff on Princess Leia's neck....it really does have a sci/fi horror movie quality to it. As for the first picture, I'm trying to imagine what kind of shenanigans our neighbors might be getting up to that would be that exciting. The only thing they really do is tend to their lawn on a regular basis, which, admittedly, is unusual for our neighborhood!

Well, maybe they were using a new turf building seed and she just couldn't believe it
